Born in Valencia, Rubén Talón is considered by both the critics and the public at large as one of the most internationally-visible Spanish pianists of his generation,
having received first prize in national and international piano competitions in Spain, France, Italy, Austria and the United States, as well as in chamber music competitions. He has been honored with special prizes for the performance of works by Manuel de Fall and the Exceptional Talent prize in Salzburg, among others.
His musical training began at the Conservatorio Municipal José Iturbi at 12 years old in piano with professor Ricardo Roca, which he completed with the highest academic qualifications. In 2006, began his studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rueil-Malmaison (Paris, France), in class with Denis Pascal, professor at the Paris Conservatoire and as a student to György Sebők, who would be his maestro for four years. He would go on to study the perfection and virtuoso levels. In 2010, he earned an advanced degree with honors at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia with professor Francisco Baró, where he would continue to simultaneously pursue musical perfection with maestros such as Alicia de Larrocha, Maria João Pires, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jacques Rouvier, Lazar Berman, Sergio Perticaroli, Akiko Ebi, Jerome Rose, Alexander Lonquich, Sergei Dorensky, Michel Béroff and Rudolf Buchbinder, among others.
In October of 2010, he was admitted to the prestigious International Piano Academy Incontri col Maestro (Italy). This institution was founded in 1988 and is currently presided by Vladimir Ashkenazy. Rubén Talón was the first Spaniard to be accepted to this Academy, where he has now studied for eight years under the direction of Leonid Margarius (student of Regina Horowitz, sister to Vladimir Horowitz) and Boris Petrushansky (last student of Heinrich Neuhaus), who have contributed greatly to his professional development.
He gives recitals and concerts with orchestras in Spain, France, Italy, Austria and Germany.
He has collaborated with chamber ensembles and accompanied singers. He has performed in auditoriums and concert halls such as the Palau de la Música de Valencia, Duomo de Cortemillia, Auditorio Ciudad de León, Auditorium del Massimo de Roma, Auditorium Umanitaria in Milán, Real Academia de España in Rome, Auditorium du conservatoire Rueil-Malmaison in Paris, Teatro Juan Bravo de Segovia, Salle Rossini Paris, Teatro Marquina de Madrid, Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Schiltz Auditorium, Fulda Auditorium, at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Sala Mozart in Bologna and Salle Gaveau in Paris, among many others.
He has been invited to international festivals including Pianale, Pirineos Classic, Umanitaria, Músicos del Mundo, International Maestros, and the Teatros del Canal summer festival. He has been invited to give master classes at several conservatories and specialized institutions, as well as to participate on the jury of international competitions. He is the Italian delegate to the Fundación Eutherpe and a talent ambassador for Fundación Promete.
