The Master's Degree in Artistic Education in Orchestra Conducting is structured around a curriculum based on professional specialization in orchestra conducting. The skills of this Master's Degree are obtained after passing the subjects and courses corresponding to the theoretical, specialization, elective and practical modules, and the presentation and defense of a Master's Final Project.

Orchestra direction
This master's degree enables graduates to develop the skills and competencies necessary to create, perform and express their own artistic concepts. In the comprehensive training of 21st century orchestra conductors, it is necessary to provide them with an international vision of orchestra conducting that allows them to integrate into an interrelated social and work reality, whose market is no longer limited to the local or national level. With the collaboration of internationally renowned orchestra conductors, the aim is to make known the current vision of orchestra conducting in the European and international context.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
The general conditions for admission to the Master's Degree in Artistic Education in Orchestra Conducting are those established in Article 15 of Royal Decree 1614/2009:
- “In order to access official Master's courses, it will be necessary to be in possession of an official Higher Degree in artistic education, an official Graduate degree or its equivalent issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area that enables access to Master's courses in the country issuing the degree.”
- “Likewise, graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may access the programme without the need for their qualifications to be recognised, subject to verification by the competent educational authority that they certify an equivalent level of training. Access via this route does not imply, in any case, the recognition of the previous qualification held by the interested party, nor its recognition for any purpose other than to study the artistic Master's courses.”
- A specific requirement for accessing the Master's Degree in Orchestra Conducting will be to prove a higher qualification related to higher artistic education obtained in the different study plans that have been in force in our country.
MASTER'S DEGREE ACCESS TEST
The Academic Committee will be responsible for selecting students following the following procedures and criteria:
- Conducting a work or works before a panel, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes. This test will be worth 50% of the final grade. An orchestra or instrumental ensemble will be available. The maximum score for this section will be 10 points. These works will be chosen by the candidate from a list published by the coordinator of the Master's in Orchestra Conducting. The aforementioned list will be published before the start of registration for the entrance exams for the Master's in Conducting and will be of a level of difficulty suitable for beginning Master's studies. This difficulty is established approximately with the repertoire programmed in the Fourth year of the Degree in Higher Music Education specialising in Conducting.
It will be an essential requirement to obtain a minimum score of 5 (on a scale of 1 to 10) in this section in order to be admitted to the Master's degree. The audition will be assessed according to the following criteria:- Technical aspects: control of gesture, phrasing, rhythm and tempo. Maximum score 5 points.
- Faithfulness to the score. Maximum score 2,5 points.
- Suitability and stylistic characterization. Maximum score: 2,5 points.
- Candidate's CV. This test will be worth 50% of the final grade. The maximum score for this section will be 10 points. The score limits established for each of the following subsections must also be taken into account:
- Evaluation of academic records. Maximum score: 5 points.
- Teaching experience in the Music and Performing Arts Teaching Staff with specialties related to the contents of the Master's Degree (with specialties in musical performance/interpretation/direction/composition). Maximum score of 3 points.
- Teaching experience in the Music and Performing Arts Teaching Staff with specialties related to the contents of the Master's Degree (with specialties in musical performance/interpretation/direction/composition). Maximum score of 2 points.
- Artistic experience in the field of orchestra conducting. Maximum score: 3 points.
- Publications. Maximum score: 2 points.
- Prizes. Maximum score: 2 points.
- Other Higher Degrees in Higher Artistic Education and University Degrees. Maximum score of 2 points.
Tiebreakers. In the event that ties arise when ranking the selected students, these will be resolved by taking into account the criterion of highest score in the subsections of the section corresponding to the candidate's curriculum, in the order in which they appear in the list above.
TIMING OF PERFORMANCES
Applicants must complete the pre-registration form.
They must attach the registration fee receipt, a copy of the required degree and the curriculum with the merits and their justification.
The registration fee is €60.
FIRST CALL:
The registration period will start on February 16, 2026.
The selection process will take place during the months of June and July. The calendar will be published one month in advance.
SECOND CALL:
The second call will be organized if there are vacant positions to be filled.
Classes for the master's degree will begin in October 2026.
PAYMENT METHOD
Students will pay the amount of €600 once they have been selected in September. The remainder will be paid in monthly installments from October 2026 to May 2027.
