Academic structure

The program is organized into three main blocks:

  • Interpretive training:
    • Five sessions of 1,5 hours per student (in person or in a group) online) in master class format, focusing on the preparation and interpretation of contemporary piano repertoire selected according to the student's profile and level.
  • Didactic training (online):
    • Three theoretical and practical modules with 3 hours of content geared toward teaching contemporary piano at beginner and intermediate levels. They include pre-recorded audiovisual materials and analysis of the teaching repertoire.
  • Pedagogical debates:
    • Five sessions of 1,5 hours online group sessions, where questions about the training content will be analyzed and presented. online.

Evaluation

  • Final interpretation: Concert presentation of a program of approximately 20 minutes per student, featuring contemporary works developed during the master's degree.
  • Continuous assessment: Monitoring individual progress at each meeting, taking into account attendance at all meetings, seriousness in study, incorporation of interpretive techniques, and the quality of the work developed throughout the master's degree.
  • Pedagogical project: design of a teaching proposal.
  • Active participation in pedagogical debates online.

Content

Interpretive training

  • Meeting 1: Introduction to the contemporary repertoire, diagnosis and curiosities in writing.
    • Initial assessment of each student and work on selected contemporary repertoire. Analysis of different forms of musical notation and their relationship to complexity and the use of patterns, highlighting interesting insights and interpretive solutions.
  • Meeting 2: Instrument stringing and experimental music.
    • Exploration of extended piano techniques, including the use of strings, various objects on the instrument, and other non-traditional resources. Practical application in experimental works by various composers, paying special attention to the care and proper use of the instrument.
  • Meeting 3: Improvisation and creation.
    • Practice of free and guided improvisation based on selected works.
  • Meeting 4: Beyond the Piano: Strategies for Repertoire with Integrated Technology.
    • Repertoire that incorporates new technologies, electronics or easily accessible digital media.
  • Meeting 5: Final concert.
    • Preparation and final presentation of works developed during the master's degree, showcasing a variety of styles and resources acquired. Concert open to the public.

Didactic training online

  • Module 1. Gain clarity on where to focus to work with confidence.
    • How to incorporate new ideas that will radically change the way you relate to contemporary music.
    • 8 hours of recorded content.
  • Module 2. Learn to find the right repertoire for your class and discard anything that doesn't add value.
    • This is the most important module. In it, I detail the most important paths to finding the repertoire that will help you advance.
    • 12 hours of recorded content.
  • Module 3. Preparation of the final master's pedagogical project.
    • Preparation of an educational presentation based on contemporary piano repertoire for beginner and intermediate levels. The project will be presented as a video and will last approximately 20 minutes. The video must be submitted during the month of April.
